To be fair tho the actual Impossible and Beyond patties only have like 400 mg of sodium on their own

So I know you said that the meat substitute burgers were unhealthy but are the black bean burgers and the quinoa burgers good for you? I love black bean patties 😅😅 but haven’t and want to try a quinoa patty

Veganism is not just about health of the human body, its about health of the entire planet and all of its animals and the air they breathe as a whole. If the meat alternatives help people transition from eating actual animal meat (which is the real point of them) amen to that! Nobodys taste buds are worth a life... Or so many lives including our very own lives at that! #wakeup!

I've had the impossible burger at a few places. The first time I had it was at a diner in Detroit and it had a really weird taste but recently I tried it again at Burger King and it was surprisingly good! I think it depends how they prepare it. Maybe you should give it another chance :)

A black bean patty would be delicious, if they were not trying to make it fake beef.

Put a bean patty and a beef patty and some roasted green chilies in a bun. Yum...

Also, you are right. It's really unhealthy and sometimes dangerous when we try to use synthetic preservatives and additives(not all are bad of course), to make foods seem to be other foods. Habits like eating proper portions and foods with biologically safe ingredients(not "natural" or "organic") such are more important than having an arbitrarily restrictive diet.

I’ve had the Impossible from BK. It’s VERY close to the original whopper.

Mistah Unknown nah not a vegan just tried the burger out of curiosity. And I’ve worked for BK in high school. Any animal product the burger would pick up when being flame broiled is extremely minimal. That burger (whether the vegetarian or the typical beef one) was designed and created by BK assuming it would be flame broiled. That bit of flame broiled smokiness is what gives it a bit more flavor. Microwaving it would take that away.

If you want it to be completely vegan, ask Burger King to microwave it instead of cooking it on the broiler they use for all the other meats. Be sure to leave out the Mayonnaise as well, since it is a dairy product .

I like bean burgers though... They are delicious! Beet burgers and veggie burger patties are pretty good too. So there even is a few more options to try!

Is this WITH BUN OR WITHOUT? Because a lot of burgers can be 500 mg salt and not include the bun. Buns can be 300 mg of salt!

Not as a burger replacement for any reason (like health or environmental/veganism), but just bc I get in the mood for it. If you can find a good one, they’re delicious! It's difficult for a Doctor to speak about nutrition, because you are not a nutritionist. So simple is that. The WHO confirmed that a vegan diet is the healthiest diet you can go with. So no, even If you eat meat one time a week you don't get healthier as on a plant based diet. Please don't say something like that.

I'm not eating beef and pork because I got bit by a Lone Star tick and contracted Alphagal, which makes you allergic to mammalian meat. I'd love to find a high protein substitute that tastes like beef. There are around 300,000 people in the U.S. who have Alphagal. (That's short for alphagalactose 1,3. That's the molecule we have the allergic reaction to.)

The so-called "healthy" veg burgers like black bean, quinoa, etc., are very high carb, bad for me because I'm diabetic. Protein and fat don't raise my blood sugar. Carbs do. I avoid too much salt on a regular basis because it makes me retain fluid, and I usually don't like extremely salty food anyway.

One could argue for the beef burger that if it was homemade you could get the sodium down way lower then any of those packaged burgers. I personally never add salt when making homemade. You can also control the amount of fat by the choice of meat used.
But I guess the same could be said for making some of the meatless burgers as well for the amount of sodium.
But using 50% of your daily sodium intake on 1 single burger seems like a lot. And lets be real, if you going to go through the effort of making burgers at home regardless if homemade or packaged. Chances are you ain't making just 1. In one meal you just hit 100% sodium intake without factoring in things like sides and drink.
As a person with high blood pressure and down to 36% heart function. You could say I am very aware of the amount of sodium I take in.
